Shang-po-lar Dining Room and the Winter Garden The name Shang Po-lar comes from the dining room in the mining settlement of Sverdrupbyen in the 1930’s. The dining room is built around the lives of the coal miners and trappers of the old Svalbard. A perfect place to get inspiration for your own experiences and trips in the area. We serve breakfast here every morning between 8 am and 10 am. It is also possible to preorder lunch and dinner here. We make outstanding polar food in exciting combinations with seal, whale, goose, reindeer, fish and other delicious things that the Arctic wildlife of Svalbard offers. We also serve old style home cooking if you wish. Rompa Bar Our outdoor bar is in connection with a big wooden tub, ”Badestampen”, for 8 people and is a perfect finale for your stay on Svalbard. Badestampen and Rompa Bar are popular during both summer and winter. The bar is open until midnight. On request we can also make a barbeque at the Rompa Bar.
